Karim Abu Kahla started practicing weightlifting through his father when he was 10 years old, and that was in the Matareya Youth Center in Dakahlia under the leadership of Captain Ahmed Al-Rifai, who trained him and founded him in the sport of weightlifting until he moved to the military school in Minya at the age of 14 years.
